I was schedule to see doctor for the result of the blood test I did last Friday.

The happiest part is that my result is ok and I do not have to take any medication.

One thing I must work hard on is my weight, but I doubt I can do it, as I always can't resist temptation and end up overeating.  Guess I have to  work hard in doing workout and cannot be lazy.

My lunch, roasted duck @ $3.50 at Yuhua Village Hawker Centre.

Week 23 (Part 1)

4th Jun (Mon)

Yesterday, while waiting for the transport outside PPHCSC to go church, Uncle Tang (Uncle Tang is usually very early at the venue) was not there, a neighbourhood neighbour was mentioning previously while talking to Uncle Tang, she notice that his mouth has dropped, she was worry he might get a stroke and need to find out.

After my mum boards the transport to the Day Care Centre.  I decided to pay Uncle Tang a visit (he has given me his address before), but nobody answer the door.  So I make my way to the supermarket to buy grocery.

Before going to the supermarket, I made a stop at the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) office at the Hospital to make enquiry.

Before my mum goes to the Day Care Centre in Feb 2018, the ex-chairman wife of one of the RC in my Constitution has tell me to go Meet-the-People Session to see MP to apply for wheelchair for my mum as she see my mum having difficulty walking.

Recently, an Uncle, a frequent at PPHCSC Friday breakfast, I bump into him, told me to go Meet-the-People Session see MP request for a wheelchair for my mum as he see my mum having difficulty walking.  He told me he has gone to the MP to apply for a wheelchair for his wife and there is 90% subsidy.

Then another round, the ex RC Chairman came and tell me to go Meet-the-People Session see MP apply wheelchair.

All the while, I have no intention to let my mum sit wheelchair, yes, she walks very slow, but she still can walk, so my view is she can walk, let her walk.

There's a day, I went to ask the Executive Director of PPHCSC, Ms R, Ms R is helping out at the weekly Meet-the -People Session.  She was telling me no need to go see MP, if go, only fill up form.  She was also saiding, the decision lies in me, if I were to let my mum sits wheelchair, my mum might not wants to walk, in which I was thinking too.

Yesterday, Uncle Choo and his son was at church, after the service, father and son went to the hospital visit Mrs Choo, while my mum and I went Harbourfront.  On the way back home, bump into them at the bus.  Was chatting with Mr Choo, where he mention his wife now doesn't have the strength to walk and the helper has to wheel the wife around.  That's what worry me too, if I were to let my mum sit in the wheelchair.

At the AIC office, the lady was asking me, can my mum walk.  My reply is yes, my mum cam walk, but very slow, beside my mum doesn't feel breathless when she walk. She then was saying, if my mum can walk, let her walk, why let her sit wheelchair.

If touchwood, my mum really needs wheelchair, when my mum has appointment with the Doctor in the hospital, tell the Doctor, they will arrange for the Occupational Therapist to do the assessment and put up.  I have to pay 10%.

Then went to buy grocery and then lunch.

Sausage, ham, egg set @ $6

Add $1, comes with garlic bread, which I find it had turn cold and not so nice already.

And a mushroom soup

After unpacking the grocery and rest for a while, I decided to go and knock on Uncle Tang's door, again, nobody open the door.

As my mum has been having a cough since last Thursday, and she doesn't wants to see doctor, so I went on behalf of my mum to the General Practitioner that my mum sees before she was admitted to the hospital the other time and was given cough syrup.  The best part is no payment from my side is required (my mum has the Pioneer Generation subsidies).

Deepavali (18th Oct)

Last year, my mum and I was invited to a neighbour house for Deepavali dinner.  This year, I did not bump into the neighbour before Deepavali.  So I ask my mum if she wants to pay the neighbour a visit during Deepavali.

On Deepavali day itself, told my mum we go around 1pm.  But at 10.30am, she insist on going to the neighbour house.  Earlier on, she told me she saw from the window, the neighbour went out.  So I told her, since the neighbour went out, we go later, she insist want to go.

When we knock at the neighbour door, I was embarrass as early in the morning, we were there.  The son open the door and told us his father not in, went to call the mum (neighbour wife), we went into his house.  Me still feeling paiseh for being early.

The wife mention the husband has gone out to buy chicken to cook briyani. As the previous day, could not get hold of chicken.  The wife then ask my mum if she wants tosai, my mum ok, so a tosai for each of us.

The husband then ask us to come back at around 6pm for briyani dinner.  5.30pm, my mum wants to go neighbour house.  Homecooked chicken briyani by his wife.

After eating, my mum wanted to go back, told her we sit a while first before going back as I find that if after eating, we leave the place, not so nice.  At least sit and chit chat a while before leaving will be better.

A day at Ng Teng Fong Hospital (20th Sept)

My mum first appointment at Ng Teng Fong Hospital Specialist Outpatient Clinic was at 1.30pm.  What I was told when the Hospital called me on 14th July to inform me of the appointment was that my mum has to be at the Clinic on 20th Sept at 1.30pm for registration, 2.15pm see Memory Nurse, 2.45pm see Memory Doctor.

The Social Worker ask me to make appointment with the Medical Social Worker to enquire about Day Care Services.  The appointment with the Medical Social Worker was at 11.30am.  I was then told that this will be done by AICare Link as AICare Link will have access to my mum medical record.  As for whether if my mum will go Day Care Centre or Dementia Care Centre will have to wait for the Doctor report to be out.  If my mum is diagnose with Dementia, she can opt for Dementia Care Centre, if not, will be Day Care Centre. The appointment with the Medical Social Worker ends at 12 noon.

I was telling my mum, if she were to go to the food court, will be walk to the other end, then she have to walk back again to the Clinic.

She wants Han's which is nearby.  She wants Hor Fun, Hor Fun is $8.50, I ask her if she wants the Fish and Chips set which is $9.80 which comes with a soup and a drink.

The soup which I let my mum have it as the other day at Han's in Holland Drive when we went for coffee, she has been telling me about wanting soup.

Garlic bread

Ice Lemon Tea

Fish and Chips to share as earlier at home, we have eaten a bit.

After that, we proceed to the Clinic to register. Then meet with the Memory Nurse to do an assessment where the Nurse will ask questions. My mum was then taken to another room, not to sure what they ask her to do as I was not allowed to go with her.

After that is see Doctor.  The Doctor also ask questions.  Doctor then send her to do blood test, blood pressure reading which I was told the blood test result will be out in few hours.  If the Hospital called, mean there's some issues, if didn't called, mean good news.

An appointment was made in November to do MRI scan and in December to see the Memory Doctor. In January, my mum has to see Neurologist.

When at the payment counter, my heartbeat shot up as I was thinking about the bills for the whole poecess.

The assessment with the Nurse itself cost $150.  Doctor consultant fee is $72.  The services (blood test, etc) add up to $379.40.  If not for the Government Subsidy, which the bill shrink to $90.21, I will faint upon seeing the bill.

We went for an early dinner at the Food Court.  At first, I thought my mum wants Yong Tau Foo. But she wants Chicken Macaroni @ $3.60.

I had a simple Ham & Mushroom Alio Alio @ $4.80. They do have alio alio with chicken/fish, I didn't order that as I might not be able to finish it as not really very very hungry.

Guan's Mee Pok

There was this day when i sign up for a workshop at West Coast area and i was early, so i went to the nearby coffeeshop (this coffeeshop was a bit quite) for a cup of coffee.  Saw this Guan's Mee Pok, since i have eaten at that time, i thought i will come back again another time to try out.

Guan's Mee Pok is situated at Blk 713 Clementi West St. 2.  Was curious about Ah Hoe Mee Pok at 500 plus, West Coast, is it associate with Guan's Mee Pok, so i ask the lady who's doing the cooking and was told no.  She was quite friendly.

The first time, when i saw the stall, saw the price was $5, i was at that time thinking, coffeeshop level, why they sell it at $5.  Now i know.  The bowl of $5 Guan's Mee Pok comes with minced mee, half tamago egg, one stick of chicken yakitori, fish maw, fried fishball, dumpling.

I  had mee kia as i prefer mee kia over mee pok

Comes with a bowl of soup

They are closed on Wednesday, opening hours are from 7am to 2.30pm.

Sunday (30th July)

As usual, after the Sunday Church Service, my mum wanted to go Seah Im Food Centre for her lunch.  At first, i thought she wanted to eat her favourite duck rice from her favourite duck stall.  But this round, she wanted to eat fish soup.

Ordered Sliced Garoupa Fish Soup @ $5 for her

with Rice @ $0.50

I had sliced Fish Soup with Meatball Mee Sua @ $5

My mum wanted to eat Fried Kway Teow, ordered a plate @ $3 to share

As the weather is hot, she wanted a cold drink, ordered a Ice Lemon Tea @ $1.30.  I didn't order any as i thought after walking one round at Harbourfront, before going home, then go for coffee before going back.

After walking one round, ask my mum if she wanted to go Heavenly Wang for coffee, or McDonald (There's McCafe inside the Harbourfront McDonald branch), she choose McDonald, she wanted Nugget, ask her, are you sure you want it, can you finish it, or i ordered Mushroom Soup (from McCafe).  When i went to the McCafe counter, was told, Mushroom Soup, no more already, left one Broccoli Soup.  My mum choose Nugget over the Broccoli Soup.  Ordered a 6 pc Nugget set for her (she took a piece of the nugget before i could take picture).  I eat one piece of the nugget and she eat 2 pieces of the nugget and a bit of the fries before she said she's full, so the rest, packed back home to eat as not to waste those that is unfinished.

Usually, the drink for the set meal, it's soft drink, i change the drink to Machaccino (Small) and has to top up for it.  Total i paid $7.30.
