It's Weekend

24th Nov (Sat)

I need to buy something for my mum from the hospital pharmacy.  Initially, I thought the pharmacy opens at 8.30am, only to realise that the pharmacy opens at 10am and close at 2pm on Saturday when I reach there at around 9.10am.

Since I have not eaten anything yet, went to the nearby 1983 for my brunch.

Ordered a kaya butter bun set @ $4.10.

Still had some time before the pharmacy open, I walk around the hospital vicinity.  Saw lady finger plant.

Went for the Saturday church service, this round, after service, was at Bukit Merah Central as I wanted to eat the yong tau foo that I wanted to try.

Minimum is 6 pc, @ $0.70 per pc, with kway teow mee ($0.70), total is $4.90.

4th Sunday of the month, Zone 2 RC Senior Friendship Circle.

Trying to get my mum out jalan jalan, she's ok to go to the nearby shopping centre jalan jalan.  Before going back, was at Han's.  Order a grilled dory fish set @ $9.80 which comes with a soup of the day and a drink.

Nowadays, I need to stand at the counter for 1 hour after a colleague knock off and while waiting for another colleague to finish his break before taking over the counter.

Recently, I bought a small piece of pumpkin  and some mushroom from the wet market.  So with some chinese sausage, I dump into the rice and cook with it.

I was told by my manager to stand by the auditor coming.  Auditor come, don't play play manz, have to follow procedure manz.  I'm one of them who doesn't follow procedure, auditor come, I sure die lah.  Phew, auditor didn't come.

I was craving for cake, so bought a piece of cake and share with my mum.

Again, standing by for the auditor to come.

Again, one of my colleague did not turn up, my manager manage to "borrow" a staff from another outlet.  If not, will be manager and one staff only and somemore, month end, my manager have to check stock and standby auditor to come and my manager also just came back from holiday.

When I report for work, I was ask to "travel" to another outlet to borrow some stuff.

While at the outlet, the manager was telling me that my manager, E, was involve in a road accident and in the hospital.

Then, back at my workplace, I was told the auditor has came yesterday, phew, the auditor came after I went back.

Thought of visiting my manager at the hospital, after settling my mum, I decided to make a trip there.  Was told, he has been discharge as he was in the hospital for observation only.

I must drink a cup of kopi everyday, so was at the nearby cafe.  A cup of coffee...

Was asking my manager if my colleague is coming today as Wednesday and yesterday, colleague did not turn up for work.  Manager also do not know if colleague will turn up anot.

24th Sept (Mon)

I was schedule off.  Run some errands in the morning.

End up at the food court in Ng Teng Fong Hospital and had yong tau foo.  6 pieces with bee hoon mee @ $4.50.

After getting some grocery from the supermarket, had a cup of cup of ice cream @ $1.90 before going back.

I was thinking whether to go and cut hair or to go to the Day Care Centre as they are celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival and also International Day of Older Persons.  In the end, I went to the Day Care Centre. Tea break is a piece of cake.

25th Sept (Tue)

Since yesterday spending day, so today must save money.

My dinner - a piece of fried chicken wings, 4 pieces of nuggets, 2 Mexico wings.  Fee  : Meal provided.

26th Sept (Wed)

Again, today, I was schedule off.  After my mum board the transport, I make my way to the CPF Board as I need to make some enquiry, then to NTUC Learning Lab, also to make some enquiry.

Then I receive a call from the Social Worker, this Social Worker is a new staff and he has been assign to take over my mum's case as the previous Social Worker has resign to further her studies.

He wants to visit my mum at the Day Care Centre and ask if I will be available to meet him.  So I have to make my way to the Day Care Centre.

My mum's lunch - brown rice with cauliflower, chicken and tofu.

After my mum had her lunch, I left the Day Care Centre and make my way to IMM as I need to get something and also take my lunch.

My coffee @ $2.

I was told by my colleague that I need to learn how to make burger, so today, I learn how to make 2 type of burger.

Week 27 (Part 3)

29th Jun (Fri)

Wet weather, raining cats and dogs.

As usual, breakfast in PPHCSC is beehoon with youtiao.

And as usual, Uncle Choo ask the same old question he has been asking and asking, your mum don't go to the Day Care Centre on Saturday and Sunday.  And I have to repeat and repeat that my mum only goes to the Day Care Centre from Monday to Friday, but not on Saturday and Sunday.

Then he share with me he used to have meals delivered to his house, but the delivery person saw his helper wheel his wife and the delivery of meal is terminated.

And now he has a new lobang, a free meal delivery to his house recommended by Social Worker.  But the quality of the foods will not be that good, items like sardine fish, peanut, etc.

He mention his helper can cook well, so I was asking him, since your helper can cook well, why not get your helper to go to the wet market or supermarket to buy raw foods and cook for the family.

Then he mention though the quality of the foods not that good, it's free, can save money.

After the breakfast session at PPHCSC, I need to go Jurong East attend to something, since I still have time after i'm done with what I need to do, I decided to visit neighbour uncle.  His wife mention that he has a fever last night and also infection, so he can't be discharge on Monday.

Had a pandan cake and a cup of kopi (didn't take picture) @ $2.80.

Due to time constraint as I need to be back before the transport bring my mum back,  I didn't visit Uncle Tang.

Week 27 (Part 2)

27th Jun (Wed)

While waiting for the transport with my mum, open the letterbox.  A surprise awaits me.

Receive a postcard from TM who went Hong Kong with his wife recently.

Since Bible Study Fellowship has resume, of course, there's homework to be done.

Beside, raining like cats and dogs.

So, my meal will be maggie mee with egg and meatball.

As when I thought that the weather is "fine" after the rain in the morning, it started to drizzle at 6 plus before the start of the workout.  Disappointed as yesterday, due to Bible Study Fellowship, no workout for me and I thought I could burn away some calories and now no workout.

28th Jun (Thur)

I was at the supermarket in JEM buying grocery.  Then nasi lemak came into my mind.

So my lunch is nasi lemak @ $4.80.  The nasi lemak set comes with 1 oath, 2 ebi fry, 1 fishcake, ikan bilis with peanuts and a slice of cumember.

Then I was thinking about whether Uncle Tang and the neighbourhood Uncle has been discharge. Since I did bring my original identify card (nowadays, usually most of the time, I don't bring my original identify card out, unless I need to go to the bank, see doctor, etc), i thought I will make a trip to the hospital to check it out. 

Uncle Tang is still there.  Good news that I heard from him is that, he can be discharge tomorrow, but his next-of-kin is not free to fetch him.  So he will be discharge on Monday.

As Uncle Tang is in Jurong Community Hospital (Tower C), I was not too sure what's the difference between Ng Teng Fong Hospital (Tower B) and Jurong Community Tower (Tower C).  So I went to ask the nurse, I was told, Tower B is for acute condition whereby Tower C, more to rehabilitation.

After visiting Uncle Tang, went over Tower B to check whether neighbourhood Uncle has been discharge.

As I have register last Friday when I visited Uncle, from what I understand, if the patient is still in the ward, I do not need to register again.  I just need to scan my identify card in the gantry.

When I was in the ward, I couldn't find Uncle, a nurse must be seeing that I am lost, ask me who am I looking for, and she help sme to check, then realise that Uncle has change ward.

Another good news, Uncle can be discharge on Monday.

1st Friday of the month, no breakfast session at PPHCSC as the staff went on a 1 day outing with some residents to Kluang.

2nd Friday of the month, staff of PPHCSC went church camp, so no breakfast session.

3rd Friday of the month, also no breakfast session, as it's Hari Raya Puasa.

This Friday, breakfast session resume.

As usual, bee hoon with you tiao, and then birthday celebration for those born in the month of June.

Then it's bingo time

Heard from a staff of PPHCSC that Uncle Tang is in hospital, got his ward and bed no., decided to pay him a visit.

While in the hospital, bump into a neighbourhood auntie, auntie and her husband and helper every Friday will be in PPHCSC for the Friday breakfast session.  Auntie husband is in hospital.  Auntie thought that my mum is in hospital, reply her that my mum is in the Day Care Centre, I came to the hospital to visit a neighbourhood uncle. 

Went with her to visit her husband, was surprise to see that the bed next to uncle, is a neighbourhood Malay uncle.

While at the ward, the couple helper is going back, auntie ask the helper to come back at 5pm, so as to feed uncle dinner.  She mention uncle doesn't wants her to feed, but the helper feed, he's ok.  

Was telling her, same case with my mum.  The Day Care Centre has told me that my mum's fingernails is long and ask me to cut for her.  But my mum has been giving all sorts of excuses, but when the Day Care Centre staff cut for her, she's ok.

The first time that comes to my mind is to inform the Chinese ministry Pastor of PPH Brethren Church as earlier on, during the breakfast session (Pastor is there), he mention that he will be visiting Uncle Tang.

After visiting Uncle Tang, went Hanis have dessert before going back.

Apple pie @ $2.50 with a coffee (I didn't take picture) @ $1.70.

Bought a squid otah @ $1.70 from Jem back home to eat.

Day 6 in Hospital (28th Nov)

Since my mum is going to be discharge, I took my own sweet time to go to the hospital.

Thought of going to eat the laksa which my ex-colleague mention not bad at the eatery which I went on Monday.  But I told my mum we will go eat lunch after she's discharge before going home.  Second thought, I forgot to ask what time they are open.  So had chee cheong fun @ $2.50 at the food court going to the ward.  

When I reach the ward around 9.30pm, the first question my mum ask me, why are you so late, then told me she has taken her breakfast which is macaroni and medicine.  Then ask me can she change, told her got to wait for nurse instruction.  A while later, the nurse ask her to change as Emergency Dept.  have patient waiting for bed, then wait at the patient lounge.

While  at the patient lounge waiting to be discharge, the Physiotherapist came.  After the Physiotherapist is done, it's waiting time as was told, doctor doing their rounds.  After waiting for sometimes, still no news, went to ask, they said can discharge, the documents, will mail over. It's goodbye time to the ward.  Went to collect medicine before going to the Food Court to eat.

Day 5 in Hospital (27th Nov)

Reached the hospital around 8.30am as not sure what time is the scan.  At around 9am, my mum was wheel for the scan. I was told, my mum will be doing the Ultrasound scan.  I followed the Porter using the staff route.  While walking, we chit chat a bit, she said she chin chye, some Porter don't like patient family member to follow.  If Doctor ask, tell them I am accompanying my mum.  As the Hospital procedure, staff route is not for visitors use. Some  Sister, they will nag.

Saw banner at IMM foodcourt, promotion for the above bento set @ $5.90 on Sunday while I went there for a walk.  So I decided to go there for the bento set.  Borrow my mum Kopitiam Card, since the bento is on promotion, so no 10% discount.

While back at the ward, phone rang, it's the Medical Social Worker, telling me she came to talk to my mum.  Told her I am at the Ward, she then came to talk to me.

In the afternoon, while my mum was taking a nap, I thought I will go downstair walk walk. End up at an eatery where they sell cake, just when I was queuing wanting to buy cake as mouth itchy, eye also greedy, saw someone walking towards the eatery, aren't she my ex-colleague.  We didn't met for many years.  Her husband is in the Emergency Dept, so she came to makan. She mention her husband told her the laksa is nice, so she came here for it.  We did have a good catchup.  While at the eatery place, phone rang again, this round, it's the occupational therapist, he's coming to see my mum walking.

Till late afternoon, no news yet whether my mum will be able to discharge, my mum starts grumbling and again she blame me for causing her to be admitted to hospital.

My mum is someone who is very scare of taking medicine.  I ask her, how come at home, you will tell me why keep taking medicine and in the hospital, you co-operate with the nurse when she ask you to take medicine.  The answer I get is, if I don't listen to the nurse, the doctor won't discharge me.

In the evening, around 6 plus, the doctor told me my mum can be discharge.  She's busy attending to patients, so I got the news at this timing.  Since it's getting late, might as well discharge the next day before noon which I also find it's better to be discharge the next day.

I ask the nurse, the next day, what time can my mum be discharge and I can no need to come so early?  She told me discharge at 11am and I can come around 10am.

I left after my mum takes her medication at around 7.30pm.

Day 4 in Hospital (26th Nov)

Since it's Sunday, don't think that will be much issue, so I took my own sweet time.  Start my day going for the Zumba session at my place there.  Then do some household chore before leaving for the hospital.

 Before going to the hospital, I went for an early lunch.  Had signature mee kia @ $4.50.

Reach the ward around 10 plus.

While in the patient lounge watching television, overheard the staff talking to a patient about the hospital bill.  I went to ask about my mum hospital bill.  Ask the staff if Pioneer Generation can be used for hospital stay.  Was told Pioneer Generation can be used in Outpatient Specialist Clinic, but not for hospital stay. 

Then ask the nurse what time is my mum scan on Monday, was told they do not know the timing, the department will call, then my mum will be wheel there for the scan.

My mum naps in the afternoon, I went for a walk at IMM.

In the evening, after having dinner, my mum mood was not very good, talk to her, she ask me to go away.  The nurse usually gave the patient medicine at around 7pm to 7.30pm.  My mum was telling me, nurse is coming to bath for her, then eat breakfast, then the doctor will come, she can go back.

Left around 8pm.

Day 3 in Hospital (25th Nov)

Reached the hospital around 8.30am.  Was then told my mum will go for scan on Monday, if there is no problem with the scan, she can be discharge.  Then came two different therapist, and was told they will be back again on Monday.  Then came a Snr Staff Nurse doing Case Management.

My mum younger brother wife came.  As this is her first time coming to the Hospital, she was complaining that it's complicate as she thought after come out from the MRT Station, will see the Hospital.  It took her around 40 minutes to reach the ward.

Walk her to the MRT Station when she's going back.  Saw Westgate got some new decorations which I didn't see the other time.

I was told my mum will be transfer back to Ward 12 at night.  I was curious how come need to transfer back to Ward 12.  Was told Ward 5 is for heart and kidney issue patient.  Since the test that is done for my mum is completed, she will go back to Ward 12. I thought I will go to the Food Court take my meal.  Yong tau foo (minimum 6 pieces) with bee hoon mee @ $4.20.

When I went back to the ward, was told they are ready to transfer my mum to Ward 12.

While at Ward 12, I thought I saw a Church Friend father walk pass along the common corridor.  So I follow him and saw him at the patient lounge dispense water.  I dare not call him as I was worried I called the wrong person. When he saw me, he recognize me.  I told him I didn't expect to see him so I dare not call him just in case I called wrong person.  He was surprise to see me and ask me why am I here.  Told him my mum was admitted to hospital.  His  wife was admitted to hospital.  His wife has a fall on Friday morning and hit her back, huge bleeding and ambulance was called to send his wife to hospital.  His wife was in ICU till Saturday afternoon where she was transfer to normal ward.  His wife sister was also in hospital but different ward from what I understand.

Stays till 8.15pm then I went back home.
