Week 27 (Part 1)

25th Jun (Mon)

I was in the vicinity of Jurong West as I need to get stuff from there.

There's this stall inside one of the coffeeshop selling kolo mee, Sarawak laksa, etc which has been around for quite sometimes.  And the foods, so so only, nothing to shout about. Actually I have something in mind to eat, but that stall, the foods is not ready yet.  And Monday, most of the stalls in the hawker centre is not open and I am lazy to walk back to the hawker centre.  So I order a bowl of Sarawak laksa @ $4.  It comes with shredded egg, shredded chicken, 3 small prawns and the worst part is, the prawns is not even fresh.

The chilli sauce

26th Jun (Tue)

Attended a talk at the church.
Topic : 十点十分人
Speaker : 容浩然牧师

After the talk ends, we were told to go to the 2nd storey as there's lunch provided.

I was asking whether any table can sit, a helper leads me to a table.  I notice that there's number in the table, where I was told that every Tuesday, there's activities in the church, different activities each week.  Attendance will be taken and each person will sit in the table that is assign.

Told the helper that I thought this is only a one time event as I saw about this event in the weekly church bulletin.

Then there was this grumpy lady in the table, looking at me and asking me which table number I was from and I was supposed to be sitting in the table number I was assign.  Reply her, I do not know as a helper leads me to this table.

Then the helper came back with a lunch box in which I ask if there are enough, if not enough, I will eat elsewhere, actually I have in mind where and what to eat if there is no lunch provided.

On the way home, I went Hoo Kee Bak Chang, Bukit Merah Outlet, Blk 161 Bukit Merah Central, #01-3735, Singapore 150161.

Bought a salted egg yolk bak chang with chestnut @ $4.

The inside of the Chang

My Bible Study Fellowship resume, I was very tired and feeling very sleepy, I know I am very in need of a cup of kopi to keeps me awake.  Indeed it has kept me awake and I didn't doze off during the Bible Study Fellowship.

Week 18 (Part 4)

3rd May (Thur)

I was so absent-minded, I have bookmark Phong Hong sticky soy chicken wings but I forgot to get chicken wings yesterday when i was at Bukit Batok.  So thought i will make a trip to the wet market, get some chicken wings, put them into the freezer, so that when i wanted to do it, I have the ingredients.

Glutinous rice came into my mind, so I went to ask around for glutinous rice, was told minimum I have to buy is 500g, I don't take much glutinous rice as I will feel bloated if I eat too much of it.  And my mum is not a fan of glutinous rice.  So forget it.

The worst and jialat part is, I got a call from a staff from the Day Care Centre telling me, your mum finger nails is long and there dirt in it, please cut your mum finger nails.

There's a time before my mum went to Day Care Centre, when my mum finger nails was long, and the staff of PPHCSC has to sweet talk her a few times when she was there before she could let me cut her finger nails.

And a time, when the Social Worker came to do elder sitting, seeing her finger nails was long, she wants to cut for her, surprise that my mum let her cut.

There were days when her finger nails is long, she refused to let me cut and will give all sorts of excuses.

Since I'm not making glutinous rice and craving for it, so ordered from a stall selling dim sum @ $1.80.

and a prawn chee cheong fun @ $2, after ordering it, I realise that I ever order from this stall before and the foods was so so only, nothing to shout about.

Saw some plants in the community garden, usually i do not know the name of the plants as plants to me, is plants.

Seeing those plants, wish that I had green fingers, so that I can grow some plants.

As for flowers, I only know a few like morning glory, sunflower, hibiscus.  Most flowers name, I do not know.

Another nice flower I came across

Brinjal

While looking at the vegetable, a guy pass by and said he's mountain tortoise, not knowing the name of the vegetable, in my heart, I was telling myself, not only you, me also mountain tortoise, doesn't know the name of the vegetable.

Week 18 (Part 1)

30th Apr (Mon)

During the last lesson of my caregiver-to-caregiver program, we were ask whether we want to volunteer as trainer, support leader, etc.  I sign up as a volunteer where when there is any outreach event, I will help out to man the booth and to introduce the caregiver-to-caregiver programme.

It so happen they have an outreach event on 20th April at Admiralty area from 2pm to 6pm.  I can only go a while as I need to fetch my mum when she comes back from the Day Care Centre at the void deck.

While there, there was a couple where the husband mum's has the same diagnosis as my mum.  I learn that his mum also went to the Day Care Centre, but different Day Care Centre.  He told me that the Day Care Centre that his mum went to, they have a new Center at Jurong West.

I went to the website to check the address and out of curiosity and also kaypo, I decided to check out the Day Care Centre at Jurong West.

When I reach the place, saw that it's Nursing Home, website has indicate Day Care Centre.  Went in to enquiry and learn that they do have Day Care Centre there.

I was directed to the Day Care Centre and I did manage to make some enquiries.

The staff did mention about the activities there.  When I enquiry about the transport, only then that I realise, those with Dementia and those without Dementia, the transport fee is different.  Those with Dementia and those in wheelchair, the fee will be higher and without Dementia, fee will be cheaper.

All the while, I understand that referral from Hospital, Polyclinic, General Practitioner is needed and it will be summit to Agency for Integrated Care where they will process it.  I was told best is get referral from Hospital, if not, Polyclinic.  As for General Practitioner, they might not know the procedure for it.

I then went to the Community Centre to see what courses they have there.  After that, I thought going to the nearby coffeeshop for lunch when I chance upon The Clef Cafe where they sell vegetarian foods.

Try out the vegetarian duck noodle @ $5.80

From what I was told, the noodles are handmade. Food is nice, only that I find that the gravy is a bit salty.

After that, went to the supermarket to buy grocery before going back.

When the staff ferry my mum back, my mum is the last person to alight, I ask him, what is his role today as one moment, he is gardener, then toilet cleaner, then kindergarten student, he then reply, the Malay guy didn't say anything.

While home, ask my mum did the Malay guy call you darling, she was mentioning everyone is darling, the female staff ferrying the elderly in the morning, he also call her darling.

My kaki Sharon WhatsApp me that she's not going for workout as she has painful heel.  At first, I was thinking of not going for workout also as feeling tired, but in the end, went for Strong by Zumba at Capital Tower.

Lunch @ Jurong West st. 42 (28th Dec)

Recently, my mum on and off has been scratching her leg due to itchiness.  Ask her if she wants to see doctor, her answer is definitely a NO.  So I have to lie to her that my rashes is back, I need to see the doctor again and ask her to go with me, then after seeing doctor, go makan.

Went to Polyclinic see doctor.  When the number is being called, told her, let's go in, lucky she didn't resist.

Told the doctor about my mum problem.  As the other time, when my mum was discharge from the hospital, she was given 2 months of medication.  When she went to see the Memory Doctor, I ask the Doctor, if her medicine finish, how.  Was given a letter and was told to bring her to the Polyclinic to see Doctor.  She still has 1 month medication at home.  Since we were there, I pass the Doctor the letter and ask her if I were to bring my mum back 1 month later when the medicine finish.  My mum was prescribed 1 month medicine, same as what the Hospital prescribed.  Additional is a moisture cream and a cream for fungal.  And my mum needs to go back again in February for a blood test and 1 week after the blood test, to see doctor.

After everything done, we went Jurong West 400+ there to have our lunch.

As usual, my mum wants the fish soup from her favourite stall. $4 for a bowl, but I add $1 for additional fish. So total is $5.

Rice @ $0.50

Chilli sauce

My starter, order a $3 rojak to share with my mum.

Told my mum, after that, we go to the other coffeeshop, as usually if in the vicinity, I will go to that coffeeshop to have my favourite white coffee, although it's more expensive than the usual coffee @ $1.70, i prefer this white coffee.

My mum second round, fried carrot cake @ $3

Saw a new stall selling duck, char Siew, roasted meat, etc.  Try out the duck rice @ $3, which I would said nothing to shout about.

Additional 2 dumplings @ $1, also I would said, nothing to shout about.

While on the way back, bump into Aunty Lee in the bus.  She went NUH for her follow-up.  She ask me where I go, told her I bring my mum see doctor at Polyclinic.  She then ask me got to pay money.  Of course lah, my mum got to pay for her medical fee.  She then told me, she went to apply for financial assistance from the hospital, so she need not pay for her medical fee.

She then went on to tell me, if she walks too much, she will be short of breath.  Like the other time, she went to the Community Centre to collect the Food Pack.  Told her, she can pass the card to her granddaughter and ask her granddaughter to collect on her behalf.  She then went on to said will ask her son to collect at night.  As her granddaughter is waiting for 'O' level, ask her, in the meantime, is her granddaughter working part-time, was told nope and her granddaughter is at home. So I ask her, since her granddaughter is at home, why don't she ask her granddaughter to go with her to the hospital for follow-up as I ever heard she mention before she not sure of the direction at the hospital.  Was told a day before the appointment, she ask her granddaughter, but her granddaughter doesn't want to go with her.

Mentioning about the medical fee, sometimes back, I bump into a neighbourhood neighbour, she was telling me, she's a Malaysian, a Permanent Resident in Singapore.  She's over 60, in Malaysia, over 60, if see Doctor at Government Hospital, it's free.  So for her, she will usually go Malaysia see Doctor.   Haiz, Singapore, over 60, not free if to see Doctor at Polyclinic or Government Hospital. Have to pay.

Foods @ Jurong West 505 Food Centre

Auntie Lee mention that if she goes to Jurong West 500+ Market do marketing, usually she will go there eat the vegetarian bee hoon which she find it's nice.  So I decided to go try it out.

The first round I went, the stall was closed, so I had Chee Cheong Fun, if I didn't remember wrongly, it used to be $0.80 per piece.  Now, it's $1 per piece.  Had 2 piece @ $2.

The second round I went, the stall was open.  I had bee hoon mee @ $2.50 (small), medium is $3, large is $3.50.  Overall, I still prefer the vegetarian bee hoon at Redhill Food Centre.
