Rich Chocolate Moist Cake

Tried doing Rich Chocolate Moist Cake which i learn from, when i attend Aunty Yochana baking class. But i was lazy so i didn't do the topping. But it don't looks like Chocolate Cake hor!!! Very black hor!!! This is my second time doing it. The first time i did it, 不好意思 to let lock and 龍貓 be my guinea-pig. kakaka...

New York Cheese Cake

At first i thought of doing Orange Cotton Cheese Cake, after trying it and have not success in doing it, i bought another piece of the cream cheese and thought of trying it again, the other time when attending Aunty Yochana baking class, heard that Carrefour was having a cream cheese promotion , it so happen that i was passing by Carrefour one of the day, so drop by to buy another two pieces to try doing this New York Cheese Cake.

Day 3 - Five Ram Statue

After lunch, we went to Yuexiu Park to see the Five Ram Statue. We only stay there for a while and then left for another place.

Yuexiu Park is the largest park in downtown Guangzhou. Covering an area of 860,000 square meters (212.5 acres), the park is made up of three artificial lakes and seven hills of Yuexiu Mountain; hence the name Yuexiu Park.

Yuexiu Park is a perfect combination of cultural relics and ecological tourism, reputed for its pretty water and hills as well as cultural relics. The main places of interest include the stone sculpture of the Five Rams, Zhenhai Tower, the site of the Ming Dynasty City Wall, and Square Cannon Site.

The Five-Ram Sculpture is one of the most famous structures in Guangzhou. It has become the emblem of Guangzhou City. Legend has it that more than 2,000 years ago, Guangzhou was a barren land with people who despite hard work were suffering from famine. One day five immortals in five-color garments came riding on five rams, playing their legendary music. The rams held sheaves of rice in their mouths. The immortals left the sheaves of rice for the Guangzhou people, gave blessings to the city and left. The rams turned into stone and the city of Guangzhou became a rich and populous place. Guangzhou got the name of the City of Rams and the City of Ears.

Zhenhai Tower, better known among the locals as the Five-Story Tower, is one of the landmarks of Guangzhou city. An interesting historical record has it that Zhu Liangzu, Yongjia Marquis of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), saw yellow and purple air rising over Yuexiu Mountain and was told by a sorcerer that it was the omen of a new emperor. To subdue this omen, Zhu Liangzu ordered this tower to be built in 1380. Over the past 600 years, the tower has been destroyed five times and set up five times. Now it is the Guangzhou Museum, housing relics and documents showing Guangzhou's history over 2, 000 years. Known as the first tower in Lingnan (South of Nanling Mountain) Area, Zhenhai Tower now is 28 meters (91.9feet) high and 16 meters (52.5 feet) wide. The striking contrast of green glazed titles and red walls makes the tower elegant.

While the historical traces create a serene environment, singing birds and exuberant plants add vigor and natural beauty to the park. Three artificial lakes -- Dongxiu, Nanxiu, and Beixiu-- cover an area of more than 50,000 square meters (538,213 square feet). Dongxiu Lake and Nanxiu Lake are tranquil and elegant, inviting painting and sketching artists. Beixiu Lake, surrounded by trees, is open for boating and fishing. What's more, the lakes are connected with arch bridges and decorated with pavilions and corridors in the Lingnan Style. Flower exhibitions are held here from time to time. For nature lovers who can't get to the faraway countryside or forests, Yuexiu Park is an optimum choice with modern conveniences.

Met them at Raffles Place area for photos taking and after that we went shopping at Suntec City.

After that we went Orchard Road. Am sure most of u have seen this picture in 龍貓 blog.

In the evening, we went Night Safari, it was very crowded on that day, not allowed to take pictures of the animals using flash as it might cause colour blindness to the animals.

On the second day, met them at Orchard Road for shopping and after that, they went back to the hotel to collect their luggages and it's off to Changi Airport for their flight back to their hometown.

Day 3 - Chikan Ancient Township

After visit LiYuan Garden, we went to visit Chikan Ancient Township which is not far away from LiYuan Garden.

At first i thought it was an actor and actress taking some shoots there, only to realise later that it's a couple taking shoots there.

Chikan is an ancient town established during the Qing Dynasty under the governance of Emperor Shunzhi. With 350 years of history Chikan evolved from a country market place into the business center of Kaiping. The prosperity of this ancient town was mostly attributed to the business competition between the Guan and Situ families. Memorial family libraries were built by each family and both libraries became landmarks of Chikan. The streets and buildings in Chikan, as they currently exist, were mostly built during the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century by Overseas Chinese returning to their villages. The Overseas Chinese incorporated elements of Western architecture into their new homes. The buildings were three-storey structures with a store front on the street level and two residential upper floors. Althoug the buildings did not have much decorative details, each building were built with a balcony facing the Tanjiang River which flowed along and divided the town. The balcony called Qilou in local dialect became a prominent architectural feature in Chikan. While Chikan evokes fond memories of a past glorious life, it is still very lively with delicious local foods, folk arts, fishing boats, old banyan trees, 600 old Qilou buildings and friendly people. It is a town with a unique presence in the middle of the surronding crop fields and Tanjiang River.

Day 3 - LiYuan Garden

After breakfast, we visited LiYuan Garden.

Li Garden was built by an Overseas Chinese American, Mr Xie Wei Li, around 1926 and finished in 1936. The garden blends harmoniously the elements of Chinese traditional gardening, Southern China water-town style landscaping and Western architecture. The garden is arranged in three main areas : grand garden, mansions and small garden. Each area is carefully separated by man-made canals while connected elegantly by footbridges and pathways. The design of the garden reflected the idea of isolation and integration.

The entrance of the grand garden has a stone arched-gate which declares the residency of the Xie family in two large, handwritten characters, "Li Gardens". The grand garden incorporates a walk-in size birdcage, a small pond and a flower pavilion along with various trees and plants. Standing in the grand gardens are two steel poles called the "tiger whip" which were built to scare away evil spirits.

The mansion area consists of six estates and two Diaolau. The interior design of the estates is decorated with Western fixtures and Chinese Yupei estate which was built as a memorial to Mr Xie's beloved second wife, Tan Yu-ying, who passed away at a young age while he was away.

The small garden is a naturalistic garden built at the foot of Tiger Hill and filled with the rich foliage of trees and plants. The small garden is used for relaxation and as a family playground for children.
