Deepavali (18th Oct)

Last year, my mum and I was invited to a neighbour house for Deepavali dinner.  This year, I did not bump into the neighbour before Deepavali.  So I ask my mum if she wants to pay the neighbour a visit during Deepavali.

On Deepavali day itself, told my mum we go around 1pm.  But at 10.30am, she insist on going to the neighbour house.  Earlier on, she told me she saw from the window, the neighbour went out.  So I told her, since the neighbour went out, we go later, she insist want to go.

When we knock at the neighbour door, I was embarrass as early in the morning, we were there.  The son open the door and told us his father not in, went to call the mum (neighbour wife), we went into his house.  Me still feeling paiseh for being early.

The wife mention the husband has gone out to buy chicken to cook briyani. As the previous day, could not get hold of chicken.  The wife then ask my mum if she wants tosai, my mum ok, so a tosai for each of us.

The husband then ask us to come back at around 6pm for briyani dinner.  5.30pm, my mum wants to go neighbour house.  Homecooked chicken briyani by his wife.

After eating, my mum wanted to go back, told her we sit a while first before going back as I find that if after eating, we leave the place, not so nice.  At least sit and chit chat a while before leaving will be better.

Qing Ming

This year, Qing Ming falls on Apr 4th, 2017 which is a weekday.  During Qing Ming period, there's a bus 405 from Boon Lay Interchange which goes to Old Choa Chu Kang Road which is near to Choa Chu Kang Columbarium where my father ashes are placed.  The bus operates two weekend before Qing Ming and two weekend after Qing Ming and on Qing Ming day itself.

Every year after my father deceased, i will go to pay my respect to my father with my mum.

(1) As this year, my mum is not going due to her weaken leg, so only me go, i was worried there is jam and the waiting time for the bus is quite long, so i took Bus No. 172 from Boon Lay Interchange and stop along the main road, then walk in.  If my mum goes, i won't be able to take this bus as this bus requires longer walking than taking Bus No. 405.

(2) Nowadays, i hardly see this kind of bus stop

(3) Sign directing to the Columbarium

(4) As there is no walking path for pedestrians, so have to walk on caution and look out for vehicles.  Was surprise that there is no jam.  Maybe i was there in the afternoon, whereby most people goes in the morning.

(5) Last year, there is no construction going on, wonder what are they constructing.

(6) Passed by a long gao

A day at Little India

Thaipusam is a festival celebrated in Singapore, but it IS NOT a Public Holiday in Singapore.  My mum, who has not been well recently, didn't go out for sometimes, so when she said wanted to go out, I was thinking, better to go on a weekday than weekend as usually weekend, places are crowded and also of her weaken leg.  It so happen Thaipusam is on 9th Feb, so bring her go Little India walk walk and see see.

(1) She has been craving for kambing soup , my place there, the India stall, they did not have it, so when we are in Little India, am sure the Food Centre there, they do sell it,  so we went there looking for kambing soup.  Saw a few stalls selling it, only do not know what stall is nicer. First thing first, find seat first.  The stall nearest to our table, they do sell it and the guy came over to ask us, so we ordered from the stall.  My mum wanted bread to goes with the kambing soup, bread is at $0.50.

(4) My mum  saw the rojak stall and wanted to eat rojak, dare not order much as worry might not finish all.  Ordered a tau kwa, potato, and a egg wrap with flour.  Total  cost is $2.10.  Did not have the time to arrange nicely and take picture as my mum will be quick to take the food and eat.

(5) Went to watch Thaipusam for a while, can't vendor far and didn't stay long for Thaipusam as with elderly, my walking will be limited. Above is water point.
